Senior Power Systems Engineer, Resource Integration

The Senior Power Systems Engineer, Resource Integration will lead grid planning and interconnection studies across renewable and conventional generation. This hybrid role combines hands-on power systems analysis with project leadership, client engagement, and technical mentorship, with three days per week in an office or at a client location.
What You’ll Do
- Lead power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, EMT, harmonics, and related power system studies.
- Develop and evaluate steady-state, dynamic, short-circuit, and PSCAD models for solar, storage, wind, and conventional generation.
- Perform generator interconnection studies, including feasibility, system impact, and deliverability assessments.
- Apply expertise in transmission, distribution, inverter-based resources, generation, and load modeling to solve client challenges.
- Lead technical troubleshooting, scripting, and improvements to study processes.
- Guide engineers through technical requirements while managing project schedules, budgets, quality, and deliverables.
- Track changes in ISO/RTO requirements, grid planning practices, and relevant industry standards.
- Support client relationships, proposals, and new business opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of power systems and renewable energy experience.
- Experience with transmission and/or distribution planning, including resource interconnection.
- Hands-on experience with power system analysis tools such as PSS/E, TARA, PSLF, PowerWorld, and PSCAD.
- Knowledge of ISO/RTO markets, generator interconnection processes, NERC standards, and applicable modeling requirements.
- Experience managing technical projects, schedules, budgets, and client deliverables.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Valid driver’s license.
Salary range: $120,000-$175,000 DOE
