The Commissioning Engineer plays a critical role in the execution and delivery of utility-scale energy storage projects. This individual is responsible for leading commissioning activities, supporting system integration, and ensuring that projects are brought online in accordance with technical specifications and contractual requirements. 

Working closely with project management and engineering teams, this position serves as a key technical representative in the field, supporting project timelines, system performance, and customer satisfaction. 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead commissioning and energization activities for multiple energy storage projects, ensuring safe and timely execution
  • Develop commissioning plans, procedures, and technical documentation to meet project milestones and contractual obligations
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support, including system testing, validation, and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with customers, field representatives, contractors, and internal teams to execute commissioning workplans
  • Support system integration efforts and resolve technical challenges during installation and startup
  • Conduct site acceptance testing and verify system performance against design requirements
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and subject matter experts to address field issues and implement solutions
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of commissioning processes, standards, and best practices
  • Prepare project documentation, including commissioning reports, issue logs, training materials, and closeout packages
  • Support project teams by tracking commissioning milestones, identifying risks, and contributing to mitigation strategies
  • Assist with proposal development and contract review related to commissioning scope and execution
  • Facilitate project handoff to service teams, ensuring complete and accurate documentation transfer

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel extensively up to 80 to 100%
  • 3-5 years of experience in commissioning, testing, or field support of electrical power systems or control systems
  • Experience working with energy storage systems, power conversion systems, or related technologies
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, controls, and system operations
  • Experience with HVAC and fire protection systems, SCADA, and relevant codes (UL, NFPA), along with programming tools (e.g., Python, VBA) and remote/HMI system exposure strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to serve as a primary technical representative at project sites and interface with customers
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in dynamic field environments
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Salary Range – $100,000 – 120,000 plus bonus
