The Customer Support Technician provides technical support for advanced solar tracking systems used on utility-scale solar projects. This position works closely with engineering, business development, suppliers, field service personnel, and customers to support commissioning activities, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain system performance. Travel throughout the United States is required approximately 30% to 50% of the time.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field service personnel and customers.
- Travel to customer sites to support commissioning activities for solar tracker control systems.
- Perform onsite maintenance and troubleshoot tracker control system installations.
- Install firmware and software updates on deployed control systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace controllers, batteries, sensors, and related system components.
- Document component replacements and service activities according to established procedures.
- Communicate system performance, field observations, and recurring issues to the engineering team.
- Develop technical documentation, service procedures, and training materials.
- Monitor system performance remotely to help maximize system uptime.
- Prepare service reports and customer communications using Microsoft 365 applications.
- Serve as a technical resource for customers.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Controls, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in solar O&M, field service, commissioning, or technical support.
- Strong troubleshooting skills related to electronic, electrical, and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel 30% to 50% throughout the United States.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active solar construction environments.
Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000+ depending on experience
