Sr Manager, Solar Certification Engineering

Our client is a globally recognized Engineering Service and Technical Advisory organization with a long-standing reputation for advancing innovation, safety, and performance standards across renewable energy. They built many of the industry standards for solar product certification and testing across PV, BESS, Inverters and related equipment.
They have two product testing laboratories and are growing their team to keep up with demand in the market and build the infrastructure for future service and business lines.
The Sr Manager, Solar Certification Engineering will lead a distributed engineering team, driving technical quality, certification delivery, and team development while serving as a key technical resource for customers and internal teams.
What You’ll Do
- Lead project and certification engineers across multiple product categories, ensuring high-quality and timely technical deliverables.
- Establish consistent engineering review, test interpretation, documentation, and report-quality standards.
- Provide senior technical guidance on certification scope, test results, retesting, corrective actions, and complex escalations.
- Develop engineers into subject matter experts and build stronger technical coverage across the organization.
- Manage team priorities, workload, performance, and professional development across a distributed organization.
- Maintain engineering practices that support applicable certification, accreditation, competency, and audit requirements.
- Partner with Quality and Operations to align engineering decisions with laboratory testing and certification activities.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for customers and internal teams on standards, certification, and product-related questions.
- Identify opportunities to improve certification throughput, reduce rework, and strengthen overall engineering quality.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Significant experience in solar PV, energy storage, or a related hardware testing or certification environment.
- Working knowledge of relevant IEC and UL standards, including IEC 61215, IEC 61730, UL 61730, and UL 1741.
- Experience leading or coordinating technical engineering professionals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to represent technical positions directly with customers.
Salary Range: $150K-190K based on experience
