Sr Director – Solar Advisory Services

Our client is a global Engineering Consulting and technical advisory firm providing Independent Engineering and Owners Engineering services for Utility Scale Solar and Energy Storage projects. They integrate engineering expertise, certification, and advisory services to support investors, developers, and asset owners in managing risk and optimizing outcomes across renewable energy portfolios. The Sr Director will oversee the full performance of the company’s U.S. advisory and engineering business, including commercial strategy, operational execution, client development, technical delivery oversight, and team leadership. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this executive will hold complete accountability for business unit performance, including revenue growth, profitability, utilization, and strategic expansion.
This role is designed for an experienced renewable energy executive who can lead a technically sophisticated organization while driving commercial growth and operational scale. The successful candidate will inherit a strong foundation of technical talent and established customer relationships while shaping the next phase of market expansion, organizational development, and operational maturity.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the overall business strategy and operational performance of the renewable energy advisory division, including full P&L accountability.
- Establish annual growth objectives, operating plans, and investment priorities in partnership with executive leadership.
- Expand and strengthen relationships with key lenders, developers, IPPs, utilities, and asset owners across the renewable energy market.
- Direct commercial strategy, including account management, pricing strategy, proposal oversight, and sales channel development.
- Oversee the evolution of scalable operational systems, including pipeline visibility, proposal workflows, forecasting, utilization management, and commercial controls.
- Guide leadership cadence and portfolio management processes to ensure alignment across commercial, operational, and technical functions.
- Partner closely with senior technical leadership to maintain high standards for engineering quality, delivery consistency, and client satisfaction.
- Engage directly with executive stakeholders and clients on strategic project pursuits, technical advisory engagements, and market opportunities.
- Support workforce planning, executive hiring, leadership development, and long-term organizational growth initiatives.
- Represent the business unit internally within the broader global organization and externally across the renewable energy industry.
- Build scalable infrastructure for continued expansion, including process improvements, team development, and business planning initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 15+ years of experience within renewable energy, power infrastructure, energy storage, solar PV, or related sectors.
- 7+ years of senior leadership experience with direct responsibility for revenue generation, client management, and multidisciplinary team leadership.
- Demonstrated ownership of business unit or P&L performance, including revenue growth, profitability, and operational accountability.
- Experience within independent engineering, owner’s engineering, technical advisory, engineering consulting, or similar client-facing advisory environments.
- Strong commercial leadership experience managing client portfolios, strategic accounts, pricing strategy, and business development initiatives.
- Proven success developing or scaling operational systems and organizational processes within a growing business.
- Ability to lead within a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment while coordinating effectively with a larger parent organization.
- Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to engage lenders, developers, asset owners, utilities, and senior leadership teams.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 30%.
Salary Range: $200-250K + bonus
