The Senior Project Manager – Solar & Battery Storage will take ownership of distributed generation and community solar and battery storage projects from planning through construction, commissioning, and final turnover to Operations & Maintenance.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced project manager who understands both the technical and financial sides of renewable energy construction. You’ll be responsible for keeping complex, multimillion-dollar projects on schedule and on budget while coordinating internal teams, contractors, vendors, customers, investors, utilities, and other project stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Lead distributed generation solar and battery storage projects through engineering, procurement, construction, startup, commissioning, testing, and turnover to O&M.
- Own project scope, schedules, budgets, costs, and overall execution.
- Develop and review project schedules, cost estimates, budgets, bills of materials, scopes of work, and subcontract documentation.
- Manage internal and external project resources to keep safety, quality, schedule, cost, and performance objectives on track.
- Lead contract negotiations and support subcontractor and vendor relationships.
- Manage the financial aspects of project execution, including cost estimating, forecasting, budgeting, and project controls.
- Coordinate permitting activities with local authorities having jurisdiction.
- Represent projects with customers, investors, grid operators, contractors, and other external stakeholders.
- Identify and manage project risks, resolve issues, and maintain progress across multiple priorities.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and communication throughout execution.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A bachelor’s degree in project management, engineering, technology, science, mathematics, or another technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of project management experience.
- Experience independently managing multimillion-dollar engineering and construction projects.
- Strong understanding of engineering and construction processes, documentation, project controls, cost estimating, scheduling, and budget forecasting.
- Experience managing the financial and contractual aspects of project delivery.
- Experience with permitting processes and coordination with local authorities having jurisdiction.
- Demonstrated planning, leadership, risk management, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and strict timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with project scheduling and tracking software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel frequently, including overnight travel of 25% or more at times.
Salary Range: $130-150k plus bonus opportunity
