The Operations Technical Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for leading technical execution of solar repowers, remediation projects, and asset improvement initiatives across an operating portfolio. This is a contract-to-hire position supporting complex field projects and operational upgrades. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, EPCs, and contractors, this role provides technical oversight from project planning through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the technical execution of solar repowers, remediation projects, asset improvement initiatives, and major maintenance activities across an operating portfolio.
- Evaluate project scopes, engineering packages, and construction plans to identify constructability concerns, technical risks, and execution challenges.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for field issues, guiding project teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Conduct site inspections and quality reviews to ensure work meets design requirements, safety standards, and operational objectives.
- Review change requests, contractor proposals, and commissioning activities to support successful project completion and asset performance.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, and EPC teams to minimize risk, improve project outcomes, and ensure efficient execution.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience supporting solar, electrical, industrial, or energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar PV systems, including DC systems, AC systems, inverters, racking, and monitoring equipment.
- Experience evaluating project constructability, execution planning, and technical risk.
- Working knowledge of commissioning, testing, and system verification processes.
- Experience working directly with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and field construction teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively to project sites.
Salary Range: $120-130k
