Quality Engineer: Solar Manufacturing

Our client is a North American leader in manufacturing high-quality solar panels. The Quality Engineer will oversee product and process quality control, ensuring compliance with established quality management systems. This role involves developing quality controls, conducting statistical evaluations, leading root cause analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product performance and reduce defects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement processes and test procedures to ensure products meet quality standards and safety regulations.
- Create quality controls and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) in collaboration with management.
- Monitor and analyze variations in scrap products and raw materials; define corrective actions and lead root cause analysis activities.
- Provide ongoing support and training to Quality Technicians, Lead Hands, and Production Operators on quality and process issues.
- Prepare statistical analyses and reports on the quality of raw materials and finished products.
- Participate in design reviews, process audits, and the development of quality-related documentation for new product launches.
- Liaise with suppliers and customers as needed, including conducting site visits.
- Support the Quality Manager in maintaining documentation required for the Quality Manual in compliance with ISO standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer in a high-volume, high-tech manufacturing environment; module manufacturing experience preferred.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Minitab), Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of PV-related certifications, including UL1703, IEC 61215, IEC 61730-1, and IEC 61730-2.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and Total Quality fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T drawings.
- Strong project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Certified Quality Engineer accreditation preferred.
Salary Range: $80 – $105k + Bonus
